Looks like New Year's in Melbourne is as stark as just about everywhere around the globe during these uncertain times...

Simple composition, with few elements to distract my attention (actually, only one - the lighted building at the right edge). I can't help myself but trying to crop it differently. I think that a square with a lot of dark negative space at the top would work best for me. And I would definitely crop off that light building...

Another thing I hadn't considered, first viewing this on Flickr, is a square crop emphasizing the "eyes" of the buildings middle and back against the explosion left...

Depending on intent, of course!
