I like this photo a lot. It's got a hint of realism, but the effect is mostly abstract. Not enough realism to take an image literally, but also not enough abstraction to look at the image as a graphic or painting. Partly, a capture of an existing scene and, partly, an intellectual statement from the creator of the photo.

That is the kind of pure creativity: finding a balance between what's obvious to the eyes and what's intellectually implied by photographer's vision. That is the combination I always look for in an artistic photography. All the added trickery that is possible (by applying extensive post-production) is simply unnecessary and unwelcome.

Bravo, Theo!

P.S. I do find this kind of creativity - from time to time - in all of us here. This is just a singular image that triggered my reaction, but my comment above applies to many wonderful images from each member of our community.

A very instructive comment, eob, which has me viewing this image from a fresh perspective.

There are obvious notes which could be made about the contrasts in color, line, and subject. But what stumped me was, in the absence of an overt emotional punch, why I kept coming back to re-view.

Nicely captured, you've got an eye Wink I like how every layer have it's own "direction", which make this kind of wave. I like the colours quite much. It's really abstract picture, but really pleasuring for eyes.
I would like to play a little with the DOF, "background" layers with a little out of focus would look a little better, i think.
Greetings

Do you look at or through a photo?

Life was once so much more rich and abundant in the narrow center of this place  until it was strangled by the limits imposed so implacably by the poisonous iron corrugated curtains of the left and right... And now the rigid barriers erected so impersonally have depressed it to death ... leaving behind the tallest brown fingers that once almost... almost... rose above the walls to support their now dead fruit.
