I bet! Smiley

Would you believe, Roland, lately I was thinking about starting a project consisting of a defocused photography - for the same reason I like to photograph abstract subjects. I think there's some fascinating ground to be explored and discovered.

In the picture above, I would just try to correct relations of lights and shadows - either by using Highlight/Shadow filter or any of the HDR (High Dynamic Range) techniques. Interesting.

Thanks, eob. Now that project would be interesting...

As for the corrections - in which direction would you work with lights/shadows?

This shot is a combination of two different RAW developments to bring back some details in the brightest parts, but as the river was sparkling really bright, some parts cannot e recovered. And I don't think I would want to, btw. There's just that large blown out blob i the middle of the shot, which I would like to see with a bit more details in it.

cheers

That's exactly the spot I was thinking about. Perhaps you could use the third exposure (very dark) to combine with two others, using a mask blocking everything except that white "blob"?

About that project I've mentioned, I was thinking not just about photographing objects out-of-focus, but also about various techniques of combining sharp and unsharp versions of the same image, adding white and black glows, etc. I am just starting the conceptual stage. Realization will take a long time, since I will be working on it in parallel with other projects as well as with day-to-day snapshooting...
