Another shot that emits the feeling of being there, hearing the sound, smelling the "thick air"... but it needs to be embedded somehow. E.g. in a series of a concert or something. On it's own, this isn't powerfull enough to really fascinate me.

thanks roland. i liked this for the hidden hand behind the drum and the general busy feel of it. looking at it now the red light in the foreground is a bit distracting, and the arm could be a bit lighter.

Since I've been shooting some jazz jams (from the scene - wandering among musicians), I know that it is extremely difficult to get in the frame only elements you want and need. There's always thousands of relections and pin-lights and pieces of equipment and advertisements on walls in the background. So, I think you did pretty good job capturing just the essence of a jazz drummer without too much of a distraction. Maybe stamping out few light dots in Photoshop would improve the image a bit, but I like it even the way it is now.

thanks eob. i find that drummers are particularily difficult as they hide in corners behind everyone else  Wink
