Monia and Olivia, Rockefeller Center, NYC, 2002.

One of very few pictures I've taken with the 35mm Hasselblad X-Pan panoramic camera. I had no choice but scan them on a flatbed scanner and this one has the best technical quality.

For a "tourist snapshot", the perspective is wonderfully different. As is the (treatment of?) light, and texture on the cars.

The cars were just props sitting there in the middle of a square. They were spray-painted with iridescent silver paint and, mainly, that's what gave this picture somewhat ethereal feel. I just enhanced that feel a bit in Lightroom.

I like that effect indeed. Sort of a magic, dramy glow. It certainly moves the two persons in a different world... I'd love to see less sharpness in the background, tho. Nice to see Olivia in one of your shots. Reminds me that I still need to contact her...

cheers

So that you know, Roland, she's the one wearing a dress.

About the sharpness in the background - all truly panoramic cameras use lenses with a very wide angle of view (in comparison to standard angle of view in normal cameras), hence the increased depth of field - an effect sort of like in digital cameras. For a while, I've been hoping that Hasselblad would design a digital back for that camera, but I realized that I shouldn't hold my breath for too long.
