Some say: "Everything has been done already". I say: "Oh, really?" Smiley

Also a larger version: http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3110/2572776725_69457c8608_b.jpg, modified to intensify the lower region.

I liked this result; it was new to me!

And sparks some ideas about refining the approach for similar shots.

Do you look at or through a photo?

It is wonder-full... or filled. Which is everything I want from an image. Thanks April. Cool

this forum is going into meltdown, a veritable melting pot...

ted thanking roland for april's picture, which is introduced by a quote from eob... what, in the name of the Lumière brothers, is going on?  Huh

this has most definitely not been done before!

Great work April (or is that the amalgamated Photosapien?)  Wink

Well, every community's destiny is eventual uniformity. Especially so, when the community is as small as ours. So, I appeal to all: let's bring some 'new blood' to Photosapien. Just, please, be selective. Choose candidates that are likely to log-in more than once...  Roll Eyes

Ooops! I almost forgot to comment on the posted photo...

BTDT? - I sense a provocation, April. Something like Duchamp's urinal maybe? Or, Ted's urinal? Grin Anyway, I got difficulty commenting on this single image. I would like to see more of the similar kind - to better understand where you're coming from and where you're headed...

I think, this approach to photography is very new to you? How do you feel being able to experiment on the unknown side, to leap without the catching net (reference to trapeze acrobats Smiley )? Me, I would love to have enough time and discipline to stay on that 'unknown side' forever and challenge myself the way I have when I've been much younger...

While I like the concept and the colors, I feel a bit uncertain about the rather stark parallel lines and the brighter area at the bottom. Nevertheless, I like it a lot for the qualities it shows in the upper portion: looking at it is like dreaming...!

cheers

I have been remiss in thanking you all for your comments. They are much appreciated, and food for thought! That's why it takes me awhile to respond...

Roland, I agree the brighter area at the bottom is/was problematic, and hope I've addressed that somewhat in the new link to the larger version. Regarding the parallel lines, it's interesting that you're unsure about them because that's actually what I responded to as adding (a surprising) contrast weave to the flowing washes of color. But maybe that's my desire to impose structure and order. Which leads me to eob's comment.

I love to experiment with the camera and processing, to be surprised and delighted by what can result. But, it's only satisfying if I can then apply those discoveries with conscious intent.

So, you are correct: this shot alone isn't there, yet. It was a happy accident (one of 3). But the approach might be, if I push it...

To hopefully go beyond BTDT: "yeah, another motion study."

I'm thinking intense color with movement through the 4 seasons (or 12 months). Intense November could be fun; February or March a serious challenge. Smiley

P.S. A personal project; color, line and movement seem to be the recurring themes I want to pursue.
