A place to sit down, let the mind run free, get in touch with the emotions that come up
with the thoughts... a corner in Noël's children room.

Very moody and painterly image. I like just about everything about it but the converging verticals... Oh, wait a second. That's just drapes that are non-vertical...

I keep looking at the photo trying to find something wrong...   Wink  But can't really put my finger on one certian thing.  It could be that the drapes cause some funky lines like eob stated, but they are drapes, and not solid, hard lines.

I too love the mood...  here are the feelings i get from this photo...

the colors to me (before reading the text associated with this photo) are that of 2 things. Summer and Fall....   Warmth of summer... Light entering the room is glowing.   But at the same time, the color is of Fall as well... which to me is a sign of an end to something wonderful (care free summer) ...

Fall is my favorite season... it is the dying leaves, the smell of wood, the cool shallow breeze that i love. Its the start of cold. Its the start of a hard journey.

The Chairs being empty makes me feel alone looking at the photo, but seeing the "stars" hanging from the ceiling let me know that there something else there with me.

Than I read your text. If this was what you wanted folks to feel... it worked. I can relate to the text, simply because the photo speaks the same as what you typed...

**Wow...  hope i didn't get too deep on that... but only tried to explain what it is I see and feel from this.

very warm and dreamy. in terms of photographic technique: the "funky lines " in the drapes don't distract me too much, not at all actually. it is just the very bright table top, and the side of the flower pot on the window sill.

on the other hand the light on the tabletop makes me wonder what should be on the table, and the light through the door makes you wonder what is out there, beyond the door.

eob has got it spot on - it does look very much like a painting, makes me think more about the story behind the picture rather than the technique. maybe that is just the result of looking at a good picture.

thanks for sharing

Thanks guys. Very valuable and helpful critiques!

@Silas: too deep? No way! This is exactly what is so valuable. After all, to know what the viewer experiences is the most interesting part of showing your shots, no?

The mood is what I went after here. The two different chairs symbolize two different persons to sit there, the light was simply fascinating and warming up the room. Since this is a scene from our son's children room, it had to be a mixture of warm, loving atmoshpere and emptiness, room for thoughts and maybe even lonelyness.

@kai: you're right. I didn't notice the bright areas in the center window. That is a bit distracting once is been noticed.

cheers
