I love the potential in this image, but feel like it contains two separate stories and would like to see it cropped as a square from the bottom up.

My husband disagrees. Smiley Full frame, he said he saw the footbridge right away, and then went up to the clouds.

I agree with April. The cloud formation, while dramatic and interesting in itself, averts the attention from the real subject of the picture. Indeed, square bottom part of the picture would make cleaner, more focused composition. Also, perhaps a little dodging of the bridge area would add impact? Overall, nice scene and nice processing.

The desaturated look imho takes out all the joy, the life, the perspective. What is left over is a scene of devastation. But not one that suggests something just happened. It looks like something has happened long ago, nature has already gained back the territory, but the joy, the positive mood has not yet come back. Compositionally, I am not very fond of the tree being cut at the right sideand having the brighter leaves in the lower right edge, but that is not of importance here, as the mood is already transported.

cheers
