To me, there is nothing more than color and tonality. The lines seem chaotic, the distribution of weight doesn't touch anything in me. So I am left with a certain appreciation for the color effect and not much more. Most probably, that would be changed a bit if ther wasn't that large dark blob in the lower left corner.

cheers

I've also been exploring macro edges rising out of a single color (in my case white), and am fascinated by those possibilities.

But despite the play of line, light and tone, this image doesn't resolve into a rhythmic composition for me. I keep getting stuck in that lower left corner, wondering why I'm there.

Still, I would definitely pursue these studies!

Do you look at or through a photo?

Hmmmm.... okay I studied the image. Then I read Theo and April. Then I studied the image. Now, suppose the lurking image IS the subject. Suppose it is the hole through which your imagination is intended to drop. On that basis, everything aesthetically and emotionally leads me there. It is the blind spot that interrupts even the palette. It is the contradiction which seems to hunt for an answer.

But... would I have concluded any of that without Theo and April's strong critiques? Hmmmmm.....
