It’s just a river
Filled with river-things
Tossed in every morning
By daybreak…
Ancient memories
That float.

Isn't it interesting how the reflections always try to compensate for the slanted appearance of the "reality"? Isn't that something we can see in our thoughts too?
This shot is certainly a definite departure from classic photography to story telling by any helpful means. And I like that pretty good. First thought was: illustration for a children's book. Then, the moon has something Harry Potter like. And finally, the building itself has a touch of Jules Verne...

There is still wonder in this image to me. See the figure on the bridge? See the ancient basilica? Okay which is this image 'about'? Perhaps it is a tale for a children's story... and it's the figure which is introduced just after, "Once upon a time...."

I confess, Ted, I didn't see the figure at first pass. My attention was way to captivated by the moon, the only really sharp thing: the basilica, the slanted lines and finally the color. I think I made up my own story from that alone and the person on the bridge was jst a passer-by. Still, it's, along with the excellent montage "Fantasy trip", a shot I love to see in a book. I sure would be inclined to buy a book with such kind of pictures, as they tell a story themself.
