Do you look at or through a photo?

My wife looked over my shoulder as your images came onto the screen. "Ohhhhhhh! That's wunnnnn-der-ful!" Rita gushed. "How did you do that?"

"Uh, these aren't mine, my virtual buddy April did them and..."

"Wow! They are fantastic. You should do things like that. Do you know how?"

"Well maybe I could... Huh? No, these are April's I don't copy..."

"Can she teach you how to do pictures like that?"

"Sigh... I've gotta go honey. I'll think about..."

"You've really got to try. Those are so wuuuuuunderful..."

Ahhh. Come on, Ted. Go have a visit back at EarthMonster and enjoy that. What I love here in Photosapien is the huge diversity with just a handful of active photographers. I'd miss your work as much as I'd miss April's work. Learn from each other, be inspired, but also be happy to have your own turf. Wink

BTW: my wife constantly says nothing about my really great shots (which says more than if she'd talk a whole day), but falls in love with shots that I'd almost have trashed. Smiley

cheers

My question is, how did you hold  the spoon still enough to get the shot in the first place. Great idea and well executed.

My question is, how did you hold the spoon still enough to get the shot in the first place.

Once I found an angle I liked, exploring handheld, the spoon was taped to a lightweight tripod on short legs that could be easily maneuvered on the tabletop to recreate that position. There were also some gymnastics involved with lighting and a backdrop.

It's rather amazing, to me, just how much much problem-solving is involved in photography. Good thing I enjoy that. Smiley

Thank you, fourth.

ha, just seen the second page to this

a spoon full of light - great shots!

i'm in between roland and ted - really like the idea and i can take something from that (roland), but don't want to copy that shot, or emulate it (ted)
