I started to write that I prefer the first for its more intricate composition, and that the second is a more classic reflection. But the more I flip back and forth between the two, I lean toward the second for its clarity. That light at the dividing line, pointing toward the hotel and contrasting with the upward thrust of the near trees, strikes me as brilliant.

I can enter the image from the front or the side; but in either case end up in an enclave surrounded by water, mountains and sky.

Interesting that I don't adopt the photographer's point of view, but instead feel like a resident in the hotel...
