I can see your intent, Ted and I think you have almost succeeded in conveying it to me. If only all your accents were placed more decidedly on those elements that count for the overall composition... I like the heart-shaped atmospheric effect. I just wish the bench was more contrasting with its background and more negative space - especially at the top of this scene. That would definitely change the visual balance for better, in my view.

How fascinating to see the raw material, and then transition into what the scene evoked in your mind.

While I know you've shared that before, this image particularly speaks to me because I love lakes, the woods, and secret places in quiet moments.

The light you've brought out on the bank(s) and bench is beautiful. Along with the reflections as a transition/metaphor between here and there, now and dreaming.

But the mist does strike me as heavy-handed above the bank into the trees -- losing depth, for me, instead of increasing the feeling of distance and unreality. I'm very aware of that layer, technically.

On the other hand, it almost suggests a fog in my brain and eye as the viewer/subject remembering that moment. Was that your intent?

Yes, it was precisely my intent April. My first title was, "Poet's Bench". But I thought that was to heavy handed. It is, as you suggest, a snatched memory filtered through the romantic prism of nostalgia. And an exercise in magical light created fully from my feelings.
