Nice fog, but i don't know if this subject (man with a dog) is a really good idea, i mean, the shots looks good - colors, tones, light, everything, but i do not see that person & dog in it fitting well. Maybe the first one is ok, but second photo don't reach my taste.

Fair enough; thank you for your feedback.

There are some shots without the man and his dog that I can reconsider.

Oh boy. How very different is my reaction. I absolutely love the man and the dog in this shot. Twice you captured excellent light, composed a very moody scene and the two protagnoists add life. I really like those shots. I think the first one has the stronger metaphoric quality. There are pictures that seem to work like books, like books whose content has been condensed into one single statement. This is one of them.

cheers

Great diffused light, pastel colors, just the right contrast between silhouetted man, dog and trees against the atmosphere - almost too sweet! Smiley

It is so interesting to read different reactions to an image. Thank you for your comments.

Recently, I have been trying to look more for a story -- something that personalizes the image, and people seem an obvious direction to take. So that ties in with your comment, Roland.

But I also agree with eob, and would say these are illustrative but not necessarily provocative.

It's an interesting journey, photography! Always searching, both without and within.

Both images strike me as excellent quality but i differently like the fist one better. As a suggestion i would crop out the picnic tables in the first maybe a square format.

Thank you for your comments, Theo.

As for cropping, perhaps like this?
