I shot this from the hip a few months ago at a birthday party.

Edited to switch to the modified image, uploaded the wrong one.
This wasnt supposed to be an example of me being Ansel Adams, just a snap that I really was lucky to get as she was very camera shy.

As a snapshot or family picture this is great.  Her expression is priceless and conveys the fun that they were probably having at the party.  For critique... the photo appears dark and if her hands were lower you would be able to see more of her great smile.

I do like the dynamics of the shot, mainly by the way you tilted the camera. It give me the feeling of just catching a glimpse out of a active, dynamic, fast scene. Like I had turned around and now I see her giggle... very spontaneous feeling. I wouldn't want to see more of her mouth, the partially coverage gives the feeling of shyness, and is so typical for a child. The pattern in the lower right corner is a bit distracting. I'd try to blur it, or maybe just lower the saturation. Nice capture, and I like the crop.

cheers

well, we don't know the reason for his action. everyone is free to leave, although it's always nice to hear the reason behind the decision.
